Campfire Pear Crumble with Le Gruyère®
This simple campfire crumble is a wonderful way to start a day in nature. Begin by building a fire and making a big pot of coffee. The pears can be cooked in a cast iron skillet over the coals or a grate over flames. It’s very forgiving, and a sprinkle of granola gives it the satisfying crunch of a classic crumble. The buttery, spiced pears and nutty oats of the granola pair perfectly with Emmi Le Gruyère® AOP.
Ingredients
- 6 pears, sliced
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 cup granola
- 6 ounces Emmi Le Gruyère® AOP Cheese, sliced
Method
- Nestle a large cast iron skillet into the coals of a campfire, or place over flames using a grate. (Alternatively, place over medium-high heat on the stove.)
- Add sliced pears, butter, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon. Cook until the pears have just softened and sauce has caramelized. Remove from heat.
- Top the cooked pears with granola and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon. Serve alongside sliced Le Gruyère® cheese for pairing.
